Hacker’s Sentence Reduced by 440 Years

Fidel Salinas, a young Texas hacker, consented to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of computer fraud and will pay $10,000 in restitution. And he’ll pay happily. Just months ago, the original charges were for 44 felony counts of computer fraud, each carrying a 10-year maximum sentence, which would have totaled 440 years of jail time.
